Solda in summer

Solda is one of the highest resorts in the East Alps.
The village is situated ca.1900 m above sea level and is surrounded by mountains which rise to more than
3000 m. The Ortler mountain is 3907 m high and is the highest mountain in South Tyrol, and after Piz Bernina the second-highest of the East Alps. The majestic mountain world surrounding “King” Ortler has far more to offer than crystal-clear air and breathtaking scenery. Breathe in very deeply. Every peak that you climb – however small – will reveal its own uniqueness.
Experience the interplay of nature’s colours – an abundance of summer greens at the foot of the valley, and the glistening white peaks of the giant glaciers high above.

Hiking:
Solda offers varied levels of hiking suitable for everyone – footpaths suitable for push-chairs as well as extremely difficult tours – ca. 100 km of marked footpaths through the forests, along the murmuring sounds of clean mountain brooks, up to the mountain huts offering shelter at extreme heights, with the most stunning panoramic views.

Mountaineering:
Mountaineering is to find the quintessence of serenity: time seemingly standing still, your body and soul feeling liberated by an awareness of all potential. There is a local saying that you have only really been somewhere when you have been there on foot.
The Ortler mountain group, which surrounds Solda, forms the principal range of the East Alps. The highest mountain of the Ortler group is the Ortler at 3907 m, followed by the Königsspitze and the Cevedale.
Nature around Solda is a raw and rough Alpine landscape which, only a century ago, had its inhabitants struggling for survival, even if it appears tamed today.
